Massage therapy has numerous health benefits and everyone needs a massage from time to time to destress and ease muscular tension within the body. My treatments incorporate various healing techniques and can be adapted to suit you individually. I have seven massage based qualifications included in my many other healing modalities, and it’s best to just ask if you have any issues regarding suitability for bodywork therapies. Welcoming Hot stones and Aromatherapy essential oil blend ritual starts most massage therapies when not contra-indicated.
If you can’t choose your therapy from my list then I also offer a Wellness Evaluation form to be sent, before your appointment, for you to complete so that I can help you choose the best therapy for you. BACK TENSION DESTRESS MASSAGE – (Ideal for tension & stress release to balance the body and mind to promote deep relaxation. Mindfulness grounding & Vagus nerve reset ritual begins your relaxation allowing for a complete mind- body approach. This is my back massage first appointment treatment for everyone allowing to safely restore your lymphatic systems health. Shorter course back massages are only available after this 1st appointment massage for general issues. A course of treatments may be required for maximum massage benefits. BODY TENSION MYOFASCIAL RELEASE MASSAGE – (Allows enough time to be spent on stress & tension issues held within the body to help release tight, achy muscles that are causing you discomfort. Mindfulness grounding & Vagus nerve reset starting ritual to switch off your fight or flight response in the body allowing your body to start your healing and repair focus from your restorative massage therapy. Acupressure focus & stretching release on your individual concerns. If you have been suffering long term stress held within the body a course of massages is required. AROMATHERAPY FULL BODY REBALANCE MASSAGE – (Restorative and stress reducing full body & scalp advanced relaxation massage techniques focusing on balancing your body and mind. With a welcoming back hot stone ritual and freshly made aromatherapy essential oil blends to nourish you from the inside out to focus on your upper body neck, face & head massage. (option to add a Neal’s Yard face brightening cleanse to conclude your therapy.)
MINDFULNESS RECOVERY FULL BODY MASSAGE – (Includes relaxing Mindfulness & anxiety release Grounding Meditation to help you relax and switch off your busy mind. ONCOLOGY MINDFULNESS RECOVERY MASSAGE TREATMENT – (Massage with cancer is very beneficial to help ease the stress & anxiety that this condition brings. New medical research supports the benefits of this specialised massage techniques through all stages of cancer treatments, and massage is not harmful whilst having cancer treatments. Length of appointment tailored to you at booking. Just check with your Doctor if you want to book this in, if you are still attending for treatment. AFTER TREATMENT CARE FOR ALL MASSAGE AND RELAXATION TREATMENTS
All massage & complimentary therapies will have a healing process for your body. Remember I am here if you have any questions regarding how you feel before, during and after treatment. Oncology massage has some extra advice and I will contact you directly to discuss your therapy after your treatment.
Depending on your emotional and physical state before your massage depends on how you will feel directly afterwards. All treatments give your body a chance to clear out any waste and begin repair mode so following the suggestions below is advisable after your therapy.
* Hydrate – drink plenty of pure water today and every day to clear toxins broken down during treatment and support lymph flow. Aim for at least 1.5L – 2L over the next 24hrs if possible.
* Follow a light diet – it’s best to nourish your body with non processed food (whole foods) that are easy to digest. Stock up before your appointment on healthy foods such as lean protein, fruits and vegetables to nourish your body in the days following your therapy.
* Avoid or limit alcohol for up to 24hrs – your body is in detox mode and alcohol and caffeine can dehydrate the body and slow your detox down. Herbal tea’s are a good option for after your therapy.
* Avoid stressful situations & make time to relax after your treatment. (me time recommended)
* Allow the effects of aromatherapy essential oils to do there magic by not bathing soon after your therapy.
* Use your recommended homecare aromatherapy blend for aromachology benefits. (ask me for this)
* Avoid strenuous exercise for today. Rest is needed for your body when it is working hard internally with your therapy. Gentle movement such as walking or Chi Gung or Stretching exercises may be beneficial for you to keep the lymph flowing inbetween sessions. (lesson available)
* Avoid over heating up your body with sunbeds / sunbathing or any excessive heat treatments directly after your massage treatment, especially if you feel unwell or drowsy after your therapy.
The healing process on your body may make you feel:
Frequent visits to the toilet / Runny nose and/or cough / Slight rash as the skin rebalances / Perspiration – another way that the body can excrete waste / conditions which have been suppressed may flare up temporarily before they heal / Very Sleepy & relaxed
These reaction are only temporary and should clear within 24 -48 hrs. They are positive signals thst your body has responded to the treatment and is balancing itself. You may also feel:
* Light headed or dizzy – you must rest and drink plenty of water.
* Fantastic with lots of energy – still take it easy till tomorrow.
* Tenderness in problem areas – rest and drink lots of water. Further massage recommended.
* Very emotional – let your body release this and avoid stressful situations.
* Ill – massage does not make you ill. You may have been feeling run down and not realised a
common virus was working on you. If necessary contact your G.P.
* Sleepy and relaxed – don’t fight sleep and take a daytime nap if necessary.
Remember that if your body has been out of balance for a while you may feel different after your massage therapy, and with regular massage treatments this will change over time. Feeling your amazing body rebalance itself is a positive sign as you are a human machine after all.
