If you don’t have the time for a 2hr package then I always recommend a full body massage for self-care as often as you can as this is the best way to help with lots of problems that can arise within the body. When it comes to stress management therapies you need more than a back massage to restore calmness to the body. I have tried and tested the length and style of my therapies ( body page), and from feedback the best restorative after massage affects for stress reduction came from mind-body therapies over 60mins. This signature package wins hands down for the most popular restorative self-care, it has done for years.
Think of your body and mind as a car and engine, if one is damaged then the other does not work properly or even function. Not looking after your car means a hefty car bill whilst not looking after your body and mind can contribute to health problems. Signs that you need a massage include headaches, insomnia, brain fog, muscle soreness, you don’t have full range of motion, anxiety, irritability etc. Everyone benefits from massage and ask me for more advice if you are new to massage. AROMATHERAPY
My own interest in aromatherapy came from my mum, who introduced me at a young age to use aromatherapy to help with many aliments. Having very sensitive skin that reacts to many ingredients has meant that aromatherapy has helped me enjoy scent with my skin and body care over the years also. I qualified in my early twenties and have been a practicing aromatherapist for over 28 years, and hopefully this blog will educate you on why aromatherapy should not be treated like a passing fashion and should be your first go to for many skin concerns and aliments. It is a gift given by nature.
Aromatic oil can be found in all the various parts of a plant, including the seeds, bark, root, leaves, flowers, wood, balsam and resin. Aromatic plants and oils have been used for thousands of years, as incense, perfumes and cosmetics and for their medical and culinary applications. The term ‘aromatherapy’ was first coined in 1928 by Gattefosse, a French chemist working in his family’s perfumier business. He became fascinated with the therapeutic possibilities of the oils after discovering by accident that lavender was able to rapidly heal a severe burn on his hand and help prevent scarring. Another French doctor and scientist, Dr Jean Valnet, used essential oils as part of his programme by which he was able to successfully treat specific medical and psychiatric disorders, the results of which were published in 1964 as Aromatherapie.
In some respects, the word ‘aromatherapy’ can be misleading because it suggests that it is a form of healing which works exclusively through our sense of smell, and on emotions. This is not the case for, apart from its scent, each essential oil has an individual combination of constituents which interact with the body’s chemistry in a direct manner, which then in turn affects certain organs or systems as a whole. For example, when the oils are used externally in the form of a massage treatment, they are easily absorbed via the skin and transported throughout the body. This can be demonstrated by rubbing a clove of garlic on the soles of the feet; the volatile oil content will be taken into the blood and the odour will appear on the breath a little while later. It is interesting to note that different essential oils are absorbed through the skin at varying rates.
It is therefore important to recognize that essential oils, have three distinct modes of action with regard to how they inter-relate with the human body: pharmacological, physiological and psychological. The pharmacological effect is concerned with the chemical changes which take place when an essential oil enters the bloodstream and reacts with the hormones and enzymes etc; the physiological mode is concerned is concerned with the way in which an essential oil affects the systems of the body, whether they are sedated or stimulated, etc; the psychological effect takes place when an essence is inhaled, an individual responds to its odour. In other words, it is not simply the aroma which is important but also the chemical interaction between the oils and the body, and the physical changes which are brought about.
Combining massage and aromatherapy provides a holistic approach to helping your mind, body and soul. Massage is believed to date as far back as 5000 years. It is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, with the aim of having a positive effect on the systems of the body. There are many benefits to massage. Most of these are achieved through the systems it affects. The physical and emotional benefits and effects of massage are:
* detoxifying * intensely relaxing * a decrease in pain and muscle spasm * anxiety
* back pain/aches * muscle tension * depression * increases circulation * headaches
* Rheumatic and arthritic conditions * releases tension * soothes stress *insomnia
* Multiple sclerosis * swelling lymphatic draining * pregnancy aches
* improves injury recovery time after physio treatment. And many more benefits that you can research.
Photon Light Therapy Facial Information
Photo-rejuvenation works by unique light-emitting diodes (LEDs) producing soft cold light at specific wavelengths (red, blue, green etc) which have different properties on the cells (much less damaging to the skin). Colour therapy is available in red, blue, green, yellow, purple, cyan and white. The tissues of the body easily absorb light, different tissues absorb different beams of light. When absorbed the specific beams of light stimulate the body’s own repair and regenerative mechanisms, so they can be used alone or in conjunction with other therapies.
Benefits of led therapy include:
* increased radiance
* firms skin ( lifts aged and tired skin)
* more consistent skin colouration and complexion
* increases skin moisture retention
* increases circulation (due to the increased formation of new capillaries)
* promotes collagen production for plumper, more youthful-looking skin
* increases oxygenation and restoration of skin’s natural cellular activity, which keeps skin renewed and fresh
* increases lymphatic system drainage which detoxifies the skin tissue for a healthy look and feel of
young skin
* Reduces inflammation in skin conditions such as acne
* May reduce sebum by normalizing the skin thereby helping control acne breakouts
